I took a road trip over Stevens Pass to Eastern Washington this past week. I love driving over the Cascades during the height of fall. It may not be Vermont, but the color is beautiful. Especially, the Sumac:
It covers the hillsides like a smokeless brushfire, flaring up between the golden Sycamores and yellow Aspens.
A good day trip is the drive from Seattle via Highway 2 to Leavenworth for lunch, and return over Blewett Pass. The loop is beautiful any time of year, but the fall is spectacular!
