May 30 is the traditional day Memorial Day is celebrated. And it is not in celebrating the start of summer that this day should be observed.

Over the years it has slipped from being a national day of observance of generations of fallen soldiers who have defended the USA, to being an extra day of weekend during a first warm stretch of summer-like weather.
Wherever you are today, if you see a flag
or a soldier
, stop and thank God you live in America; stop to thank a soldier’s service; stop to think what it means to be an American: Freedom. 
And enjoy the sunny day.
