One of my daughters commented to me on our way home from the airport that she was bored.
We were on the freeway: cars were buzzing everywhere, planes soaring into and out of the air above, shipping traffic negotiating the waters of the harbor to the west.
Bored?
My mind went immediately to what the mind of an early pioneer might make of that statement upon being trabsported from the quiet bliss of the prairie into downtown Seattle. And somewhere from my memory came the words of Arthur C. Clarke:
“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”
And, like magic, sometimes the awesome becomes invisible to the naked eye…or is that the jaded eye?
